About Matthew Lu
Matthew Lu is the youngest board member at Parkinson's Resource Organization (PRO) and was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s (YOPD) when he was still a teenager. Matthew was misdiagnosed with Essential Benign Tremor and was told he could manage it with a glass of wine. As a teenager, Matthew noticed that after playing sports and exerting his body, he would be shaking and have a tremor. This prompted him and his mother to seek a second opinion, after which he was diagnosed with YOPD. Today, Matthew focuses his efforts into raising awareness and creating a supportive community for those who are diagnosed or in the process of being diagnosed with YOPD. Matthew also contributes articles to Parkinson's Resource Organization's monthly newsletter: Newsworthy Notes. His articles focus on assistive technology and hacks for strengthening his body.
