PRO SOCIAL CLUB November Meeting: Guided Nature Walk
Category:This month’s PRO Social Club outing is not your average walk in the park! Friends of the Desert Mountains is going to lead us on a guided walk in La Quinta Cove.
The Friends of the Desert Mountain’s website says, “The Friend’s Vision is a thriving, productive and inclusive community integrated with a healthy and sustainable natural environment throughout the Coachella Valley region.”
In that spirit, an interpretive guide will explain to participants on this walk interesting facts about the local flora, fauna, and history!
This approximate one-mile, non-strenuous walk will begin in the small parking lot and will take roughly 1.5 hours from onset to finish. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. We can’t wait to get out in nature with you! This walk is best for people who walk unassisted or with a cane or hiking poles. It is not advisable for people using walkers and wheelchairs.
Directions: From the intersection of Highway 111 and Washington St., head south on Washington St. for 2.9 miles. At the intersection of Washington St. and Avenue 52, use the right two lanes to turn right onto Avenue 52. At the traffic circle (0.4 miles), take the 3rd exit onto Avenida Bermudas for 1.7 miles. Then make a left turn into the Cove to Lake parking lot. Type “Cove to Lake Trailhead” in your GPS system.
Don’t forget to RSVP in advance at parkinsonsresource.org/calendar.
