Palm Desert Greens Breaks Record with Charity Golf Tournament for Parkinson’s Resource Organization

Donation of $37,250 reflects the most profitable run in 25-year tournament history

Following its annual Charity Golf Tournament, the Palm Desert Greens (PDG) community presented its charity of choice, Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO), with a $37,250 check in recognition of the work PRO does for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers. This is the largest amount ever raised in the community’s 25-year tournament history. 

“The Palm Desert Greens community is one of the unique gems of the desert,” says PRO Executive Director Eileen Lynch, “and they proved that once again with this record-breaking golf tournament and donation to support our free resources for people with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and family. This community truly embodies grassroots support. It is rewarding simply to know them, but this significant donation will go a long way towards our mission to work so that no one is isolated because of Parkinson’s.”

An annual tradition, the charity tournament has rallied for local charities for over two decades. This year, Parkinson’s Resource Organization was the selected charity, thanks to the advocacy of Barbara Kelly, Liz Dixon, and a special group of women fundraisers known as PDG Strong. This group initially became involved with PRO through the First Annual PRO on the Move Walk in 2022. Looking to do something to honor her brother who died of Parkinson’s, Kelly brought her walk idea to PRO and it’s been an annual tradition ever since. In fact, the group can be credited with raising more than $52,000 for PRO in less than three years.
