Message from the President - April 2023

April is a very special month for the Parkinson’s community…it’s Parkinson’s Awareness Month! Every six minutes, someone will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the United States. Every six minutes an individual or family joins the more than one million Americans living with the fastest growing brain condition in the world. 

A Parkinson’s diagnosis is life-changing but there are two important things to remember: Parkinson’s is NOT a death sentence, and it manifests differently for everyone. Life doesn’t end with your Parkinson’s diagnosis, it changes – and Parkinson’s Resource Organization is here every step of the way to help families navigate the emotional and practical aspects of the journey.   

This April, we’re shining a spotlight on Parkinson’s to raise awareness, reach new community members, and raise money to fund our FREE programs for people with Parkinson’s and caregivers. We have several events scheduled – a mix of in-person and virtual events taking place across the country. These events focus on JOY, MOVEMENT, and EDUCATION, three core elements to successfully navigate Parkinson’s.  Read on for more information.
