MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT JULY 2014

Category: Message From The President

SUMMER IS HERE and while our members and site visitors enjoy planning vacations and the opportunity to unplug from the daily routine of work and school, the staff at PRO spends its time planning future programs and events and serving those who need us most. Though our support groups are on summer break, we invite everyone to stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. Have questions, new resources, information you personally need or have discovered and want to share? CALL us!

The BIG NEWS for 2014–2015 is our 25th Anniversary! Stay tuned for the announcement of our MAJOR CELEBRATION EVENT. It’s going to be exceptional and something you will definitely want to be part of.

Again this year, in August, Macy’s SHOP FOR A CAUSE gives everyone interested in supporting PRO the chance to Shop and Give at the same time! Click here for detail and the Savings Pass. And our new affiliation with AMAZONSMILE is yet another way to give to PRO as you shop on one of the biggest online shopping networks in the UNIVERSE! We thank you in advance for thinking of us as you go about your daily business. As you know, every dollar makes a big difference in supporting our goals and mission of Ultimate Quality of Life for those with Parkinson’s.

In this month’s Newsworthy Notes, we continue reporting on THE ROAD TO THE CURE and the commitment of the scientists and research teams at SDBC.

For the last several years we have reported on the connection between TMJ and Parkinson’s. It’s our pleasure to share an article written by one of our esteemed Wellness Village Dental Professionals, Dr. Dwight Jennings, DDS, MICCMO. CRANIO-MANDIBULAR DYSFUNCTION (TMJ) CAUSATION THEORY OF PARKINSON’S: AN APPLICATION OF OCCAM’S RAZOR… a very long title, but a most interesting read.

As much as everyone hates to imagine this problem, ELDER ABUSE is a reality. Please take the time to read a very insightful article: HOW TO PREVENT ELDER ABUSE by Patty Curtiss, Co-Director at ElderCaring, a Referral Agency. Awareness is the beginning of change.

THE GRIEVING PERSON’S BILL OF RIGHTS by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D.is an article worth reading regardless of your stage in life or that of someone you love.

On behalf of everyone benefiting from the efforts of the Parkinson’s Resource Organization, we thank ALL who support us in delivering our message of support, inspiration, education and empowerment. We look to YOU for continued support by mailing your check or donating online on our secure website.

Until next month REMEMBER to celebrate Independence Day on the 4th, and Bastille Day on the 14th. This is National Safety, Parks and Picnic month and the fruits and veggies of the month are Papaya, Nectarine, and Garlic. Remember to CELEBRATE YOU. PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS!

Love, Jo Rosen

Founder & President
