GOOD-BYE AND THANK YOU, ROBIN WILLIAMS

All of us at PRO extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Robin Williams as they say good-bye to a gentleman who was much more than just funny (though he definitely was that too).

Our goal at PRO is to always shed new light, share breakthrough information and, when necessary, band together as a supportive community in times of tragic news. The news of Robin Williams was indeed a tragedy. We understand how important support, knowledge and understanding are to the well-being and ultimate quality of life of our Parkinson’s community and their extended circle of family, friends and caregivers.

We hope that hearing and the sharing of Mr. Williams’ tremendous sense of helplessness and hopelessness has shed light on the importance of having a supportive, informative and understanding community close at hand. If just one person is moved by Mr. Williams’ tragic end to reach out for support during their Parkinson’s journey then we, as an organization, have honored his memory and have created a sliver of good from his despair. PRO is about positive empowerment, knowledge and unconditional care and support for those with Parkinson’s, their families and caregivers. Unfortunately it often takes a tragic headline to reveal the critical necessity of having a strong support system in place when dealing with chronic illness. If Mr. Williams’ life and death gives us the platform to raise awareness and reach just one more person we will have rightly honored him. Parkinson’s is not a hot topic, yet to those with Parkinson’s it is often the onlything on their mind. We are here to help, to ease the burden, to calm the emotional storm within and to offer assistance however possible.
