Beloved to his family, friends, and employees, Don Cavanaugh was a Palm Springs legend. The longtime owner of Blue Coyote Bar & Grill, Don Cavanaugh lived a life as big as his personality, until he succumbed to complications related to Parkinson’s in 2019. Parkinson’s Resource Organization was lucky to get to know the Cavanaugh family, including his daughters Shayne and Kelle, and to assist them through the final stages of their journey with Parkinson’s. When he passed, his daughters saw an opportunity to continue Don Cavanaugh’s legacy AND help the organization that provided them so much assistance – thus, Don Cavanaugh Day was born.
This year, we’re celebrating the Fifth Annual Don Cavanaugh Day on Sunday, November 12th from 11 AM to 9 PM at the Blue Coyote Grill in downtown Palm Springs. Join us for their world-famous margaritas and some of the best Mexican food in Coachella Valley – and 15% of the proceeds of the day’s sales will be donated to Parkinson’s Resource Organization so we can continue providing free support to people with Parkinson’s and caregivers!
A short lunchtime program featuring Palm Springs Mayor Grace Garner, Jo Rosen, and Kelle and Shayne, will be followed by music, a raffle, and the chance to ask PRO staff your burning questions. A second program in the evening will appeal to the dinner crowd. To top it off, the Blue Coyote will be giving out free chocolate chip cookies in memory of the “cookie monster” himself, Don Cavanaugh. Join us for a day of great food, great people, and for a great cause!
Can’t make it on the 12th? You can still send a donation via check to 74-478 Highway 111 #102, Palm Desert, CA 92260 OR online at www.parkinsonsresource.org/donate
