BITS & PIECES: A VERY SPECIAL DONATION
Category:For many years my friends Karen and Michael Gilbert have been sending my husband Marshall gifts of $1.00 (sometimes $2.00 or a little more) in honor of anything they could think to send. Marshall never spent one of those dollars but kept them neatly stacked in a drawer along with all the cards that accompanied them – lots silly, but many very touching.
Marshall and I often talked about what we were going to do with all those dollar bills – for sure it was going to be something that would show his appreciation to Karen and Michael for their years of love and devotion as friends.
On September 30, 2023, Marshall passed away from Parkinson’s. His illness was long, debilitating, and so very, very sad. However, he was not alone – he was surrounded by so much love. Marshall was a masterful trial lawyer, very active in the Jewish community and the community at large. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a remarkable friend to many.
There is no better way that I could think of, then to honor Marshall as well as Karen and Michael and to celebrate their special friendship than to send the $243 (I rounded up to $250) to Parkinson’s Resource Organization. Your work celebrates friendship, connection, and care for the individual. Thank you always for bringing that gift to the Parkinson’s community.
I know Marshall would be very pleased.
